Beyond Burps, cries and loud poop sounds...

Aanya is inventing her on vocabulary ...which is wordless and consists of grunts, coos..and more..a step up from her only form of communication crying :)I will try to capture some video/audio this weekend and all of you can hear for yourself. Gaurav captured Aanya..making one of these new sounds ..
It is 4:45 pm Saturday afternoon.it is siesta time for mama and Gaurav after a sumptuous meal of Kadhi chawal. I m waiting for Aanya to wake up ..or may be I too will catch up on quick nap..
Chao !

Tummy time for Aanya

On the day Aanya turned 4 weeks, I decided to introduce her to "Tummy time" and voila....she loved it.
I had researched it over the Internet and it is said"tummy time" is important so that babies can learn to push up and finally crawl. The experience of being on their tummy helps babies learn to push up, roll over, sit up, crawl, and pull to a stand.
Though we are told that put the baby to sleep on their backs ,it is important to have them on their tummy's for whatever little time they can stand starting 5th week as they are able to hold their necks a few seconds on their own.
I was able to capture her delight in one of the pics. She seems to love it ever since. Everyday we try to give her a few minutes on her tummy though under observation.

Enjoy the mesmerising smile !!

Hush-a-bye, don't you cry..Go to sleep little Aanya...

Between..me and my mom...we do day and night shifts with Aanya. Nani wakes through the night so that Aanya's mama can get some good sleep and recover from the aches of delivery !

And I take care of Aanya through the day...

Today I have been trying to put her to sleep for almost an hour.. but she seems to be wide awake...between feeding and multiple diaper changes ..

I wikipeded Lullaby's and stumbled on history of some Lullabys. Here is one of them ...

The famous lullaby "All the Pretty Little Horses" which many children simply know by the first three words of the lyrics: "Hush a bye"was originally written by an African American slave who could not take care of her baby because she was too busy taking care of her master's child. She would therefore sing this song to her master's child.Originally, the lyrics were "birds and butterflies, peck at his eyes" but were changed to "birds and butterflies, flutter 'round his eyes" to make the lullaby less violent for younger children. (From Wikipedia)

Hush-a-bye, don't you cry,
Go to sleepy little baby,
When you awake, you will have cake,
And all the pretty little horses.

Black and bay, dapple and grey,
Coach and six-a little horses,
Hush-a-bye, don't you cry,
Go to sleepy little baby.

Hush-a-bye, don't you cry,
Go to sleepy little baby,
When you awake, you will have cake,
And all the pretty little horses.

Way down yonder, down in the meadow,
There's a poor little lamby,
The bees and the butterflies flutter 'round' his eyes,
The poor little thing cried mammy.

Hush-a-bye, don't you cry,
Go to sleepy little baby,
When you awake, you will have cake,
And all the pretty little horses.
